Michael Oliver OBE, DL - Founding Chairman

Michael, a graduate mechanical and production engineer, established Oliver Valves Ltd in 1979 in a garage at the side of his family home with an idea to produce a revolutionary severe service needle valve. His dream resulted in the Non-Rotating Tip, Anti-Galling Needle Valve.

The Valve soon found favour with the energy industries, first with British Gas followed by many of the international oil and gas providers. The company steadily began to grow enjoying further innovation by way of the world's first fibre optic gauge projector and a micro switch system applied to an air actuated ball valve.

Under Michael's stewardship, Oliver Valves, Oliver Valvetek and Oliver Twinsafe have grown to become a major employer and an international market leader in the field of flow control solutions.

Michael Oliver's purchase of Fred Dibnah's steam engine was reported on by local news.
