Manually Operated Subsea Needle Valves

Oliver Valvetek Limited manufactures a range of small bore subsea needle valves, from 0.25″ [6mm] bore to 1.00″ [25mm] bore. These needle valves typically have an operating pressure rating up to 15,000psi [1035 bar] and an operating temperature range of -20F[-29C] to +350F[+177C]. The Manually Operated Subsea Needle Valves have a typical water depth rating of 10,000ft [3050m].

Dependant on the application and operational torque required, Oliver Valvetek manufactures its range of needle valves in either Diver Operated (Light Duty), Standard Duty, Medium Duty and Heavy Duty Needle Valves for subsea use. See see our needle valve data shetts for further information.

Subsea Needle Valves are commonly used to provide a metal to metal seating isolation solution without resorting to the more complex and expensive gate valves. The valves are typically used on Christmas trees to isolate downhole safety valve lines and gasket test lines. Oliver Valvetek provides a range of small-bore needle valves in bodies with flanged, threaded and welded end connections to suit all applications.

The small-bore subsea needle valves are qualified at different pressure ratings up to 15,000psi [1035 bar] and are suitable for 3050m [10,000ft] water depths. Qualification testing is performed to the exacting standards of API 6A and 17D 2nd edition as well as client and project specific applicaiton testing.

Floating Type Ball Valve

Subsea Ball Valves

Floating Type Ball Valve

Oliver Valvetek manufactures a range of small bore subsea floating ball valves, from 0.55″ [14mm] bore to 0.787″ [20mm] bore. These ball valves typically have an operating pressure rating up to 10,000psi [1034bar]. These valves have an operating temperature range of 0F[-18C] to +250F[+121C] and typical water depth rating of 10,000ft [3050m].

Subsea Ball Valves provide the user with a soft seating quarter-turn isolation solution for many different applications. The inline flow path of ball valves minimises flow losses, important on extended hydraulic control lines. They are commonly used to isolate hydraulic and chemical fluids associated with subsea oil and gas production systems.

Floating Ball valves are typically manually operated and due to the working pressures of the valves will typically have low operational torques but high torques to damage. The added benefit of these products is should the valve be over-torqued and the stop pins are compromised, the valve internals will not be damaged and the valve can still be opened and closed.

Product Information

  • The small-bore subsea ball valves are qualified at different pressure ratings up to 1,038bar (15,000psi) and are suitable for water depths to 3,050m (10,000ft). Qualification testing is performed to the exacting standard.

    Product features

Operator – The ball valves can be supplied with a number of different operators, including Lever and Tee Bars, for diver operation.
Stop Pins – Each ball valve size has a stop pin designed for maximum torsional (Torque to Damage) strength.
Anti-Blowout Spindle – All ball valves have an anti-blowout safety feature.
Environmental Seals – All ball valves have seals to prevent the ingress of seawater. These have been tested to water depths equivalent to 10,000 feet (3050m).
Gland Seals – The gland seal within each ball valve is a Peek thrust ring with a secondary o-ring with a special anti-extrusion ring designed to prove a leak-free spindle sealing with no requirement for adjustment.
Ball – All Oliver Valvetek ballas are manufactured by its own production facility to ensure stringent Quality control and ball profiling design. The Oliver subsea ball valve range is high precision manufactured to extremely accurate sphericalness, which ensures extended operational life and is highly polished to provide minimum operational torques.
Seats – All ball valves utilise Peek seats which offer broad process compatibility whilst maintaining a positive sealing across the full pressure range from low to maximum working pressure.
Full Flow – Positive 90deg ball travel combined with clear through bore provides minimum restriction to flow.

    Traceability of Materials
All the components within an Oliver subsea ball valve have material traceability. The complete ball valves are individually serialised and are provided with material and pressure test certificates to BS EN 10204 3.1 certifications. Rotary Gate Valves

Oliver Valvetek offers a range of Rotary Gate Valves with nominal bore sizes of 3/8″ [9.5mm] and 1/2″ [13mm].

The small-bore subsea rotary valves are qualified at different pressure ratings of up to 15,000psi [1034 bar] and 16,500 PSI [1138 BAR] – 1.65 X CWP seat test was also conducted (if the system is rated at 10,000 psi). Rotary Gate Valves are suitable for water depths to 10,000 ft [3050m].
Qualification testing is performed to the exacting standards of API 6A Appendix F PR2 and 17D 2nd Ed (Operable temperature range: -20F [-29C] to +350F [+177C] with non-operable temperature range: -50F [-46C] to +350F [+177C].

The rotary valves offer a good alternative to a needle valve where typically you would expect to have low operational torques but high torques to damage. Another design feature is that should the rotary gate valve be over-torqued and extrenal valve stops are compromised, the valve will continue to rotate without damaging the internals.

Product Information

  • Small-bore Subsea Rotary Valves are used where metal to metal and non-elastomeric sealing is required on applications such as chemical injection lines on Christmas trees and manifold structures. In addition, a quarter-turn operation is required for position indication purposes.
Oliver Valvetek provides a range of small-bore rotary subsea gate valves in bodies with flanged, threaded and welded end connections to suit all applications.
    Key Rotary Gate Valve Features:

    Position Indication
The Oliver Valvetek manual rotary gate valves are operated through a quarter (90degrees) turn. This provides the end-user with a simple visual indication to the ROV operator of the valve position.

    Over-Torque Protection
The quarter-turn operation means that if the valve is over-torqued to a point where the end stops fail, the valve will simply continue to open and close. The valve can then be positioned in the open or closed position and without damage to the valve internals.

    Low Operating Torque
Oliver Valvetek has achieved a low operating torque at full differential pressure by utilising fine controls on the spindle to bonnet bearing interface.

    Panel Mountable or Block mountable
Oliver Valvetek can provide the end-user and operator with a varied and comprehensive range of operators and receptacles easily configurable to the designer ROV panel.

U-shaped flow passage through the valve.
The unique design of the flow passage through the Oliver Valvetek rotary gate valve minimises the potential flow losses. Flow tested to provide the end-user with accurate flow coefficients and excellent Cv value if there is a concern regarding flow rates.

Proven Destec Metal to Metal Body to Bonnet Sealing Arrangement.
Oliver Valvetek Rotary Gate valves utilise compact gaskets to offer effective and reliable body to bonnet metal sealing. Designed and tested to take total differential pressures from outside to in (10,000 ft hyperbaric conditions) and from inside of up to 18,750psi shell test conditions.

    Proven Sealing technology
Oliver Valvetek Rotary Gate Valves uses both static and dynamic sealing technology from other valves in it’s product range, thereby ensuring product reliability is maintained and utilising standardising sealing features across our product portfolio.
