Key People within the Oliver Family of Companies

Michael Oliver OBE, DL Founding Chairman

Michael Oliver

Michael Oliver is the founding Chairman of Oliver Valves and since its establishment 40 years ago in 1979, the company has grown to be a world leader in innovative valve solutions. As a graduate Mechanical and Production Engineer, Michael Oliver had ambitious dreams.

Starting out by working from a garage in his family home, he realised the idea of producing a revolutionary severe service needle valve. This dream resulted in pioneering a Non-Rotating Tip, Anti-Galling Needle Valve which soon became a trusted product amongst energy industries including British Gas and other large oil and gas providers internationally.

As Oliver Valves Ltd was steadily growing so were design ideas for other leading innovations. Michael went on to develop a fibre optic gauge protector and a microswitch system applied to an air actuated ball valve - no other engineer in the world had designed and manufactured such a product.

Michael’s engineering expertise and leadership have enabled Oliver Valves, Oliver Valvetek and Oliver Twinsafe to become a major employer and an international market leader in the field of flow control solutions.
